Fillies fly in Friday's SBOA eliminations

MILTON, May 8, 2026 - Stakes season began Friday at Woodbine Mohawk Park with eliminations for Ontario sired fillies in the SBOA Stakes.

A pair of eliminations were needed in the pacing filly and trotting filliy categories, with each elimination going for $25,000.

Ron Burke trained Shes A Bulldog moved to the lead in the second quarter and powered to a 1:51.3 score with driver Bob McClure. Daya finished second, best a length and a quarter, while Pownal Bay Bobbi, Th Check Me Out and No Better Air rounded out the top-five.

Owned by Brad Grant, Shes A Bulldog was making her season debut after winning once in nine starts at two. The daughter of Bulldog Hanover’s lone victory was in the Grade 1 Three Diamonds. She now has earnings over $540,000.

Shes A Bulldog paid $3 to win.

O’Brien Award winner A Clean Deal took the second pacing elimination in 1:50.4 for Doug McNair and trainer Kyle Fellows.

A backstretch move to the lead was the move to the winner’s circle for the daughter of Cattlewash. A Clean Deal kicked home in :27.3 to win by a length and a quarter.

P N G Shadow finished second, while Romantic Beauty, Malicia Speed and Naughty Delight also advanced to the final.

A Clean Deal won six of seven starts at age two and by keeping up her winning ways with Friday’s season debut score is now sitting at over $466,000 earned. She’s owned by Yolanda Fellows, Blair Corbeil, Windermere Stable and James Ross and paid $2.40 to win.

The trotting filly eliminations started with Blue Jean Gal rallying for a 1:55.0 victory.

James MacDonald steered Blue Jean Gal to the win for trainer Julie Walker, trotting home in :28.0 to close from fifth at the head of the lane for the win. Satu Wania followed the winner to a second place finish, beat a length and a quarter.

Very Sassy, Flowing Tribute and Barbara May completed the top five.

A winner of last year’s OSS Grassroots Final, Blue Jean Gal’s season debut win improves her record to eight wins in 10 starts and $111,000 earned for the Estate of Leonard Gamble. The daughter of Trixton paid $4.30 to win.

Cher Hill was a gate to wire winner in the second elimination for driver Doug McNair and trainer Gregg McNair.

A daughter of Muscle Mass, Cher Hill marched to a sharp 1:54.2 win, defeating nearest rival Arkona Seelster by three lengths.

My Ghost, Lo And Behold and Twin B Showbiz also punched their ticket to next Saturday’s final.

Cher Hill’s season debut win moves her record to four wins in 11 starts and over $143,000 earned for owner Tom Hill. She paid $7.60.

The SBOA Filly finals will join the two finals for the boys next Saturday (May 16).

The SBOA Colt and Gelding eliminations, featuring the season debut of Beau Jangles, highlight Saturday evening’s 12-race card. Post time is 6:30 p.m.
