Jimmy Freight Stakes to be contested October 7 at Woodbine Mohawk Park

MILTON, July 17, 2023 – Woodbine Entertainment and Adriano Sorella today provided an update on the date and conditions for the inaugural Jimmy Freight Stakes.

Initially announced in December of 2019, the inaugural Jimmy Freight Stakes is scheduled for Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The race and $100,000 purse are sponsored by Adriano Sorella.

The event is open to any two-year-old colt or filly sired by Jimmy Freight, with no nomination fee or starting fee required. The only conditions a starter must meet is having made a minimum of two starts at Woodbine Mohawk Park and having earned a minimum of $10,000 by time of entry.

The Jimmy Freight Stakes requires a minimum of eight horses entered for the race to proceed.

Should the race not fill, a total of $50,000 will be divided between the top-five earning horses sired by Jimmy Freight in 2023. The owner of record on December 31, 2023, will receive the below payments:

Top Earner: $25,000
2nd Highest Earner: $12,500
3rd Highest Earner: $6,000
4th Highest Earner: $4,000
5th Highest Earner: $2,500

The entry box for the Jimmy Freight Stakes will close on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. Any owners or trainers seeking additional information are asked to contact the Race Office at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
