King's Plate Garden Party to take over Sankofa Square
RULE THE DAY, DOWNTOWN TORONTO
Toronto, ON – August 14, 2024 – Woodbine Entertainment is bringing the social event of the summer to the heart of Toronto this Saturday when Sankofa Square (formerly Yonge-Dundas Square) is transformed into a King’s Plate Garden Party.
“We wanted to bring an authentic King’s Plate experience directly to downtown residents and tourists,” said David Vivenes, Woodbine Entertainment’s Executive Vice President of Brand and Experience.
“We’re confident that once people get that first taste of horse racing and one of Canada’s most prestigious sporting events, they’ll put attending the Plate in person at Woodbine on their calendar for next year.”
The King’s Plate Garden Party will include:
- Broadcast of the full card of races on the screens around Sankofa Square, courtesy of Branded Cities
- Areas to bet (must be age 19+ to wager)
- The Stella Artois Beer Garden (age 19+ only)
- Live DJ
- Food trucks
- Interactive games
Admission to The King’s Plate Garden Party is free. The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., concluding shortly after the big race, which is expected to run around 6 p.m.
