TORONTO, October 11, 2026 – Favoured Odenkirk toyed with a short field and remained undefeated, scoring a dominating win in Sunday's $125,000 Display Stakes at Woodbine.
A field of five was originally set to contest the 7-furlong main track sprint for two-year-olds, but morning line favourite Quipster was ruled a veterinarian scratch at the starting gate.
With the field reduced to four, Odenkirk, breaking from post position 2, brushed slightly with Uncle Dodo, but soon burst clear and left the seven-furlong chute one length clear of Unbridled Freedom. Verge tracked inside in third, with Uncle Dodo shading him in fourth.
The quartet of juvenile colts raced single file to the half with Odenkirk cutting out an opening quarter in :23.37, while continuing to lead through a half mile in :46.58.
Inside the quarter-pole, a confident Rafael Hernandez snuck a peak back at the competition, before rebreaking on Odenkirk and the pair widened sharply in the lane, going on to win by 5 3/4 lengths in a final time of 1:22.30. The six-furlong split was 1:10.14.
Second choice Uncle Dodo rallied to be second. Verge was third and Unbridled Freedom, making his local debut, was fourth.
Hernandez, who picked up career North American win number 3500 earlier on Sunday's card, was asked post-race if the pre-race scratch of Quipster bothered his colt.
"No, actually, no, no, any impact. When I warmed up the horse today, they had to go run hard if they come beat me," said Hernandez, who was aboard for Odenkirk's local debut win on September 26th.
In that race, the bay son of Nyquist turned in a professional performance in a six-furlong sprint over a firm E.P. Taylor Turf Course, stalking in second and striking front in the final half furlong, powering clear to win by 1 3/4 lengths.
A $130,000 purchase at the 2025 Keeneland September Yearling Sale by owner D J Stable LLC, Hernandez marveled at the ease the Mark Casse trained Odenkirk showed in winning the Display.
"Yeah, everything right. Just waiting for horses. Whoever's gonna come, he gonna give me another kick," said the 3-time King's Plate winning jockey.
Bred in Ontario by Anderson Farms Inc, Odenkirk (Nyquist – Astrollinthepark, by Divine Park) improved to a perfect 2 for 2, while winning in his synthetic debut.
Listed at 3-1 morning line, Odenkirk went postward at odds of 6-5 and returned $4.70 for the win.

TORONTO, October 11, 2026 – Heavy favourite Lamirada, remained unbeaten on synthetic, while airing on the lead to win the $125,000 Glorious Song Stakes Sunday at Woodbine.
Breaking from outside post 7, Lamirada got away sharply and was second, outside of From Time to Time, leaving the chute in the 7-furlong dash for two-year-old fillies.
Lamirada stuck her head in front as the field of seven passed the opening two-furlong split in :22.29. From Time to Time was just inside in second. Madeleine Swann skimmed the rail in third with Traction Park shading outside in fourth. Hope Is a Breeze raced in fifth, Epic Affair was sixth and Cattrall trailed.
Under regular rider Fraser Aebly, Lamirada opened a two-length lead through a half mile in :44.87. Around the turn, the dark bay/brown daughter of Army Mule saved good ground and sprung into the lane under a hand ride, opening up a furlong out, while cruising home to win by 8 1/4 lengths in final time of 1:21.29.
Lamirada's winning time was a near full second faster than her male counterpart Odenkirk's, in winning the Display Stakes a race earlier.
Bred in Ontario and owned by breeder Mark Dodson, Lamirada debuted in a six-furlong main track sprint at Woodbine on August 8th, crushing a field of seven by 11 3/4 lengths while earning a Beyer Speed Figure of 86.
With her Glorious Song romp, Lamirada remained undefeated on synthetic, while winning her two Tapeta races by a combined 20 lengths.
"She finished up beautifully for me, she just seemed to cruise around there," said Aebly, who was also aboard for Lamirada's stakes debut in the Grade 1 Natalma Stakes (on turf), where she led much of the way before finishing 7th.
4-time King's Plate winning trainer Josie Carroll had three entrants in the Glorious Song and was especially impressed with the performance of the winner.
Carroll breezed Lamirada (Army Mule - Sister Nova, by Verrazano) twice after the Natalma, including a five-panel main track bullet (:59.00) on October 2nd, best of ten workers that morning.
"When she made the lead as easily as she did, I thought, hey, we're in good shape," said Carroll.
"Then I looked at the fractions and I said 'Whoa,' but she was doing it so, so easily."
"As Fraser said, despite the fractions she set, she's much more relaxed than she was in her last start,” said the Hall of Fame conditioner, who mentioned the local two-turn Princess Elizabeth Stakes (November 28th) could be under consideration for Lamirada's next start.
With the black type Glorious Song win on her resume, Lamirada improved her record to 2-0-0 from 3 career starts. The winner opened at even money on the morning line, went off at 3-5 and returned $3.20 for the win.
