Ontario Sired Spring Series nominations close April 1

MILTON, March 29, 2022 – Woodbine Mohawk Park would like to remind all owners and trainers of this Friday’s deadline (April 1) to nominate to the Ontario Sired Spring Series.

The Ontario Sired Spring Series is offered for each three-year-old division (pacers and trotters) and open to Ontario sired sophomores that did not earn over $30,000 in 2021.

Woodbine has attempted to host the Spring Series in each of the last two years, but COVID-19 shutdowns forced the cancellation in both attempts.

“We’re happy to finally get this series off the ground,” said Bill McLinchey, Director of Standardbred Racing for Woodbine. “This series will offer a great starting block for lightly raced or unraced three-year-olds ahead of the upcoming sires stakes season. From our conversations with our trainers and owners, we expect the Spring Series to be well-received.”

The Ontario Sired Spring Series will offer two preliminary legs ($18,000 guaranteed purse per division) and a $40,000 added money final. Each event will begin on either Thursday, April 21 or Friday, April 22 and all four finals will be held on Saturday, May 7.

The nomination fee is $300 (CAD).
