Woodbine and COSA reach new three-year agreement

MILTON, April 23, 2024 – Woodbine Entertainment and the Central Ontario Standardbred Association (COSA) jointly announced today the agreement of a new three-year deal that includes capital investments in each year and increases to purses.

“We’re very happy to extend the strong partnership we have with COSA and its members,” said Michael Copeland, CEO of Woodbine. “Woodbine is the North American leader in Standardbred racing and we’re proud of our unwavering commitment to everyone in the Ontario racing community.”

As part of the new deal, Woodbine will continue to invest annually in capital upgrades to Woodbine Mohawk Park. Purses will also increase by $700,000 in each year of the contract.

“It’s great to finalize this new agreement with Woodbine,” said Bill O’Donnell, President of COSA. “Our two sides have had a healthy and productive relationship over the years. As we enter this new agreement, it remains evident that our goals are aligned to have a first-class racing industry and product.”

COSA has been an active sponsor of major events and initiatives throughout their partnership with Woodbine, including sponsoring multiple Breeders Crown events.

Woodbine Mohawk Park is currently in the midst of a 222-race date season for 2024. Live Racing is offered every Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Tuesdays will be added to the live racing schedule in June. Post time each evening is 7:10 p.m.
