Woodbine Mohawk Park back in action Saturday with 15-race card

MILTON, March 28, 2024 – Woodbine Mohawk Park is set to resume live racing this Saturday with an extra-large 15-race card.

The New Holland Pacing and Trotting Series Finals will highlight the super-sized program on Saturday. The $71,000 Pacing Series Final will go as Race 6, while the $70,000 Trotting Series Final is carded as Race 9.

Whichwaytothebeach carries momentum in the New Holland Pacing Series Final after a 3 ¼ lengths score in the second leg. The Garry Merner trainee is no stranger to stakes finals, having raced in last year’s Canadian Pacing Derby and many top Grand Circuit events as a three-year-old.

Sylvain Filion will sit behind Whichwaytothebeach, leaving from post-three. The six-year-old posted a mile of 1:50.3 in last week’s second leg, the fastest of all the preliminary legs.

First leg winners HP Momentum (PP1, Trevor Henry) and Jilliby Dynamite A (PP4, Louis-Philippe Roy) will be prominent factors in Saturday’s final.

The New Holland Pacing Series Final will go as Race 6 (8:15 p.m.) with a full field of 10.

The New Holland Trotting Series Final will have all eyes on seven-year-old Pemberton. The former O’Brien Award winner has won two of three starts this season, including a length and a half second leg triumph in 1:55.2.

James MacDonald will sit behind the Julie Walker trained Pemberton, who has 16 lifetime wins and over $600,000 in earnings. Post two is the starting spot for Pemberton.

Southwind Oncore (PP1, Travis Cullen) got the better of Pemberton in the opening leg of the New Holland. The Jodie Cullen trainee posted a career best 1:53 victory in round one, but finished fifth in the next round.

The New Holland Trotting Series Final will have a field of nine clashing with post time scheduled for 9:24 pm.
